Rail Directions
When arriving by rail you can head for either Reading, Cholsey, Didcot or Oxford stations. Cholsey is closest but is only small so you will be on a slow train to alight there. Reading and Didcot are well served by West Country Intercity trains, and Oxford by trains to and from the Midlands.
There are good bus links to Bridge House from Didcot and Oxford, and Cholsey also has a good day time bus link to Wallingford. (See below) There are a good variety of taxis available from the stations, but if all else fails do ring us and we will try to pick you up.
Bus Directions
The Thames Travel Bus Company serve our area quite well, but constantly change their timetables We hope the following information is accurate at the time of posting to the website, but all may change so you will have to play it by ear when you come. We have tried to include web links to the relevant time tables where possible.
There is a bus stop right outside Bridge House. However, the only buses to pass us regularly are the 138, which is a local link bus between Wallingford and Berinsfield, and the 140 Abingdon/Wallingford bus (see below). You could change at Wallingford or Berinsfield to spare yourself a short walk. At certain times of the day the 105 and 106 buses also pass the house (see below). All other buses stop at the "Kingfisher Hotel" which is about a 10 minute/ 1/4 mile walk away from us. Go to the Shillingford Roundabout then follow signs for Shillingford Bridge Hotel until you see the sign for bridge House. You could change at Wallingford or Berinsfield to spare yourself this short walk, but watch the timings because Berinsfield, in particular, has nothing to offer as pass-times. Wallingford is better.
From Oxford or Reading. The X39/X40/X41 bus passes the Kingfisher Hotel in each direction and also stops at Wallingford and Berinsfield. Do check the timetable for which number bus goes where and when. Sorry its so complicated.
From Oxford or Cholsey. The 105/106 buses similarly passes the Kingfisher Hotel and stop at Wallingford and Berinsfield. At certain times of the day these buses route passed Bridge House, so again check the timetable to avoid an unnessessary walk.
From Didcot. The 130 bus leaves the Didcot railway station and passes Didcot town centre. This bus arrives at Wallingford and usually connects with other services coming towards Bridge House.
There are also buses from Henley, Goring and Watlington to Wallingford. Check the Thames Travel website for details if needed.
